Home of these plants are the tropics and subtropics. Known are many types and varieties. Some are grown as indoor plants because of its high decorative foliage, and others - because of its original colors.
Most - are popular akalifa hispida (Acalypha hispida) and akalifa vilkeziana (Acalypha wilkesiana).
Akalifa hispida (Acalypha hispida) is very efficient, like cat tails clusters with up to half a meter. The colors are mostly red, but there are also white. Clusters out of the leaves and breasts are sagging. In natural conditions (New Guinea) plant reaches a height of 3 meters, but the room is quite compact.
Akalifa vilkeziana (Acalypha wilkesiana) is one of the most effective leaf-ornamental plants. Its natural color is bronze-red, but there are varieties with various colors and shapes of leaves. Clusters are characteristic shape, but the flowers are nondescript.
